There's an expression coined by Joseph Campbell ~ 'Follow your bliss and the Universe will open doors for you where there were only walls'.
Your bliss is of course that that nourishes your soul, your passions, your loves.
I myself am passionate about a lot of things. Human potential being one of them.
We are born in to this world pure, full of potential, a blank canvas waiting to be painted. And slowly over time that canvas starts to get filled. However, sadly, the experinces that paint it aren't always positive and we start to get a distorted view of reality. Believeing the peope who told us we weren't good enough, that life is hard, that the world is scary, and we lose sight of the divine spark that exists inside us all and our raw potential.
It is possible to clear these beliefs that limit us and though I am a work in progress I have worked on many of mine through a powerful technique known as EFT.
It's a process, clearing a lifetime of limiting beliefs and replacing them them with ideas that serve us better, but as you do so you start to find yourself exploring possibilities that never seemed possible.
Believe it or not I was too scared to get on an aeroplane at the age of 18. Somehow sensing the limiting effect this would have on my life I pushed through it. I read the book 'feel the fear and do it anyway' and simply pushed through my fear, forcing myself on that plane until the fear diminished.
Fast forward and a fear of failure led me to starting many courses but never taking that final step in completeing my exam to actually get qualified. Recognising that pattern I worked on it and when the time came to do my Yoga teacher training I knew that there was no way that I wouldn't show up and take that final step. And so as I stood, beaming from ear to ear, certificate in hand I knew that new doors had opened for me, that I was finally allowing myself to succeed and lay to rest those often subconcious beliefs that I couldn't do it.
More recently I identified a belief that to make a living we had to somehow do something we didn't particularly enjoy and any success would be at the end of a long road of hard effort and slog. Yes I have been working in the Yoga world for many years now and running retreats, but somehow I realised I saw this as more of a hobby as surely you couldn't make a living of something that you love, something that for the most part doesn't feel like 'work' as it fills your soul so much.
Working on this limiting belief I suddenly realised that I was wrong. My love, my passion, my inspiration could indeed be the way I make my living and indeed that's exactly the way it should be!
And so it came to be that I invested my heart and my soul in to creating first 'Under The Bodhi Tree' and then creating my special branch focusing solely on retreats 'Under The Bodhi Tree Retreats'.
In doing so I have gifted myself the opportunity to combine many of my passions together, truly following my bliss.
Not only do I get to share Yoga, I get to travel, I get to give back and create charitable foundations and the icing on the cake I get to share this all with you. Sharing such amazing life experinces with others really sets the stage for forging long term friendships. Some of my previous guests who have met on my retreats have ended up setting up a business together, some have ended up getting married! And it is such a pleasure to be such a big part of this and seeing the light in peoples eyes as they open themselves up to new possibilities, new experinces and a better way of living.
I like to think that this awakening that is often stirred on retreats can be fully realised back in the real world through our tribe of people, there to support each other and guide each other forward.
It's why I have now started to create online Yoga videos and healthy eating recipes so you can take some of the magic home with you.
There are plenty more plans in the pipeline and plenty more limiting beliefs to clear but as I've seen, the possibilities are endless.
Anyway, time for me to get back to 'work' to answer some more of your e mails and get you one step closer to sharing an amazing life experince with us at 'Under The Bodhi Tree Retreats!'
The whole of Under The Bodhi Tree Retreats, Sri Lanka is a labour of love that comes from a place of passion and sincerity. In this blog we shall share with you, what's happening on the retreats, what's inspiring us and a little more about the humanitarian and conservation causes that we are helping.
